Professional Server Certification Corp. Food Handler Program Course Curriculum has been approved for training for South Dakota Food Handlers.

One food handler must be in the establishment at all times. All food handlers must be able to demonstrate knowledge. A food handler card from PSCC demonstrates knowledge. The PSCC Food Safety for Handlers Course can be used to meet the demonstration of knowledge requirement. Upon completion of the course, you can print a food handler certificate from Professional Server Certification Corp. You will also receive a food handler card in the mail.

The course material can be completed online; however, you are required to complete a proctored test, which means you have to have someone supervise you while you take the test to validate your identity and verify that you complete the test without using any notes or reference materials. The proctor will charge you a fee of $25 to $35.

Approved proctors are located in Rockville, Fairmount Heights, New Carrollton and Glen Burnie.

After you complete the course material online, you will be given the contact information for the approved proctor to schedule a time to take the test. The proctor will give you access to the test, which will take about half an hour. Once you complete the test, you will be able to print your certificate of completion for the course.

Oregon

Obtaining a Service Permit in Oregon is a TWO STEP Process:

1. Complete an approved training course, such as PSCC's OR Responsible Serving course.

2. Apply directly to the OLCC for a service permit. Visit the OLCC website to download a service permit application. This application must be completed prior to the first day that you mix, sell or serve alcohol and mailed with the $23.00 permit fee to the OLCC by end of the next business day.

The PSCC OR Responsible Serving Course has been approved by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and fulfills the training requirement for obtaining an alcohol service permit. You MUST also submit a Service Permit Application to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Upon successful completion of the exam at the end of the course and submitting your permit application, you will receive your official alcohol service permit from the OLCC.

NOTE: If you work in a grocery store or another off-premises establishment and part of your duties involve filling growlers, you need a valid Alcohol Service Permit. Complete these two steps to obtain your permit.

 Washington MAST Responsible Serving Approvals

1306213200washington.gifPSCC's WA MAST Responsible Serving is approved by the Washington State Liquor Control Board for online Mandatory Alcohol Server Training. Upon successful completion of this course and the final exam, each student will be mailed his or her MAST permit. Washington state requires a certification wallet size card, and you cannot print that, we have to mail it to you.

If you are age 21 or over, you will receive a Class 12 permit, which certifies you to draw alcohol from taps and mix drinks and/or manage a retail licensed premises to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises.

If you are between ages 18 and 21, you will receive a Class 13 permit, which certifies you to take alcohol orders, carry alcohol to customers and pour alcohol into a customer's glass at the customer's table in an establishment for on-premise consumption.

If you turn 21 after you have taken our course, contact us and we will mail you your Class 12 permit. This permit will have the same expiration date as your Class 13 permit and can only be obtained through PSCC if you received your Class 13 permit from PSCC.

In Rhode Island, you must complete an Alcohol Server Training program approved by the Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals if you are working for an employer holding a Class B, Class C, Class D, Class J, Class N, or a Class P license and if your duties include selling or serving alcoholic beverages, supervising individuals who sell or serve alcoholic beverages, checking IDs of customers purchasing alcoholic beverages, working as valet parking staff. You must obtain your service permit within 60 days.

 SD Food Safety Certification for Managers Approvals

1307422800sd food.jpgSouth Dakota Department of Health has approved PSCC to provide online training and exam for the Re-Certification of your Certified Food Manager license. You can complete the training course online, then after completion of the course, you are required to take a proctored exam. This method is much easier than the classroom setting, as you can train at home or at work, then just go to a site for the exam.


Proctors are located in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Madison, SD.

Once you graduate from the course, you can print your proctoring directions. You call the proctor, and pay for the exam. Proctoring costs are around $50 to $60. Then, after a two day set up, you can schedule your exam, go in and sit with the proctor to take the test. You can fax or email your results to us, and PSCC generates your certifiate, and notifies the state of SD, you will be recorded in the state database as a certified Food Manager.
